The Western Reserve Academy boys cross country team placed first with 20 points at a four-team meet Aug. 27 at Hawken in Gates Mills.

Hawken took second with 49 points and Beachwood (67) and Kirtland (95) finished second and third, respectively.

The Pioneers had four of the top five runners. Danny Mylott won the race with a time of 18 minutes, 38 seconds. Teammate Max Borrmann placed second (18:44) and Peter Thewissen took fourth (19:46). Sammy Bluso was next in fifth (19:50) for Reserve.

Rounding out WRA's top five was Cole Howard (eighth, 20:04).
