Aurora -- Local business owner Ryan Andrachik will be inducted into the International Karate and Kickboxing Hall of Fame on Sept. 2 in a public ceremony at Asian Sun Martial Arts' Hudson location.

Founded in 1975, the Hall of Fame's inductees include Chuck Norris, Bruce Lee and Joe Lewis.

Andrachik was nominated by Grandmaster Bob Chaney, whose martial arts career includes an eighth-degree black belt in taekwondo. Chaney has trained more than 200 national and world champions in karate and taekwondo, seven world kickboxing champions and five world muay thai champions.

To be inducted into the Hall, one must be nominated by an inductee.

"Most people are inducted for their legendary fighting careers or for their impact on the martial arts community worldwide," said Chaney. "Master Andrachik is being inducted for his longevity in martial arts and his national reputation as producing thousands of students and black belts.

"What separates him from other school owners is the positive attitude of his students, and his ability to produce many quality instructors, students, and fighters with excellent attitudes."

Andrachik is owner and president of Asian Sun. The training center's nine locations compose the largest martial arts school in Ohio

HE IS A seventh-degree black belt in taekwondo (the Korean equivalent of karate), recognized by USA Taekwondo (U.S. Olympics governing body) and Kukkiwon (Korean world governing body), and a fourth-degree in muay thai, a fighting style commonly identified as "kickboxing."

Andrachik has 35 continuous years of martial arts experience, and founded Asian Sun in 1994. He is the head coach of the Asian Sun competition team, which won eight medals at July's USA Taekwondo National Championships in San Jose, Calif.

His son, "Vincie" Ripepi, is America's No. 3 men's welterweight in the ages 18-32 division as ranked by the USA Taekwondo Association.

Ripepi accepted an invitation to audition for the United States Olympics taekwondo team in February.

"It's an unexpected honor," said Andrachik. "We pride ourselves at Asian Sun of not holding up the achievement of our staff -- including me -- rather to hold up the achievement of our students. A master with no students is not a master. I am truly thankful to Grandmaster Cheney."

After the ceremony, Chaney will conduct a kickboxing seminar, which is open to the public. Chaney will head an advanced kickboxing seminar at the Asian Sun World Kickboxing Academy, 3301 Kent Road, Stow, on Aug. 30 from noon to 2:30 p.m.

Asian Sun's locations are in Aurora, Beachwood, Brecksville, Green, Hudson, Montrose, Stow, Tallmadge and Wadsworth.
