Various programs — Many recreational and community education programs are offered by the city’s parks-recreation department.
Among them are learn to roller skate, inline roller skating, driver education, youth and adult sports, dancing and fitness, stop smoking seminars, youth camps, dog obedience, gardening and home improvement.

Aurora Seniors meet weekdays in the Walker Building on West Pioneer Trail in front of Aurora High School.

Programs include computer classes, wellness checks, breakfast and lunch outings, speakers, theme parties, arthritis exercise, health screenings and card games.
Among specific activities are: Gentle yoga Fridays at 10 a.m., Arthritis Foundation exercise Tuesdays and Thursdays at 12:30 p.m., bingo Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m., knitting Thursdays at 2 p.m.
Also, penny poker Tuesdays at 11:30 a.m., canasta Tuesdays at 11:30 a.m., walking videos Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 9 a.m., watercolor painting Wednesdays at 9:30 a.m. and beginning Tai Chi on Thursdays at 9 a.m.
Lunch and a movie will be July 28 and Aug. 11 at 11:30 a.m. at Doogan’s. Bingo is offered Aug. 8 at 2 p.m. at Maplewood Care Center behind Kmart in Streetsboro.
Lunch and music on the patio at the Walker Building will be today (July 30) and Aug. 27 at noon. The Romeos (retired old men eating out) group will visit the Rush Hour Grill in Twinsburg on Aug. 20.
Trips coming up are: Aug. 4 — Phipps Conservatory and Carnegie Museums of Arts and Natural History in Pittsburgh; Aug. 6 and 13 — Nautica Queen, lunch and West Side Market in Cleveland; Aug. 18 — lunch bunch to Flip Side in Chagrin Falls; Aug. 19 — Akron RubberDucks game; Aug. 20 — Horseshoe Casino; Aug. 22 — Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad.
Aug. 24 — Shoji Tabu-Chi at the Mentor Performing Arts Theater; Sept. 4 — Lolly the Trolley tour of Cleveland; Sept. 9 — wine and cheese party at Legacy Place; Sept. 12 — IMAX theater and lunch at Progressive Field; Sept. 15 — lunch bunch at Glenwillow Grill; Sept. 17 — Presque Isle Casino; Sept. 18 — Packard Music Hall for Paul Byrom; Sept. 22 — Hartville Kitchen and Flea Market.
