The Hudson boys track and field team finished second with 79 points at the 18-team William E. Ward Invitatiational April 5 in East Palestine.

Austintown Fitch won the competition with 125 points and Poland Seminary took third with 57 points.

The following Explorers placed in the top eight:

• 3,200-meter relay: Gavin Gaynor, Michael Spaans, Connor Sinko and Kyle Mau, first, 8:31.89

• 300 hurdles: Adam Green, third, 16.75; and Matthew Gold, eighth, 18.6

• 1,600: Gaynor, first, 4:31.99; Matthew Hallgarth, fifth, 4:57.79

• 3,200: Mau, first, 9:41.07; and Blake Roberts, sixth, 10:25.31

• 1,600 relay: Marty McDonald, Seamus Mooney, Gold and Alex O'Keefe, third, 3:44.37

• Discus: John Brandon, second, 149 feet

• High jump: Logan Thomas, sixth, 5-8
