AKRON, Ohio  – You have an "excuse to let loose" on April 12.

The Color Me Rad 5K race is coming to Akron. Not only is this a fun, non-competitive, totally social and psychedelic way to run 3.1 miles, it will benefit the Ronald McDonald House of Akron.

Runners (and walkers) are encouraged to arrive dressed in all white clothes and accessories. Each section of the race will add a new explosion of non-toxic cornstarch color to your clean painter’s palate, culminating in a final blitzkrieg of color-bomb craziness at the finish.

The race begins at 9 am at Lock 3 Park and runs through downtown Akron.

"We were very excited to be chosen by Color Me Rad for this opportunity," said Anne Collins, executive director of the Ronald McDonald House of Akron. "It’s a great race for the Akron area and a nice way for the community to get to know the Ronald McDonald House of Akron.  We encourage everyone to join in the fun and look forward to seeing all the supporters covered in color. It should be a great day!"

To register, go to http://www.colormerad.com/race/cleveland-akron and enter the promotion code, "RMHakron." This will give the participant a 10 percent discount and direct 10 percent of the proceeds to the Ronald McDonald House. The cost is $55.

Volunteers can sign up at the same site.
