Aurora — On Dec. 28, the Greenmen girls placed eighth out of 16 teams in the Cloverleaf Stampede at Wooster High School, while the boys placed ninth. Chagrin Falls won the boys title, while North Royalton claimed the girls crown. The locals had a number of top 10 finishes.
Top finishers for Aurora were Alle Hayes, third in the 100 free (59.16) and Nedelka, third in the 200 free (1:58.5) and 500 free (5:25.13), while the girls 200 free relay of Brezovec, Henderson, Mahle and Hayes placed fourth (1:52.69).
Other top 10 finishes were:
Hayes, ninth in the 200 free (2:11.14), Henderson, ninth in the 200 intermediate medley (2:33.44), Broc Miller, eighth in the 100 butterfly (1:00.65) and eighth in the 100 backstroke (1:02.48), Mahle, 10th in the 100 butterfly (1:10.23), boys 200 free relay of Vincik, Nelson, Branscom and Nedelka (1:44.23) and the boys 400 free relay of the same four boys (3:49.84).
A meet which had been rescheduled for Jan. 4 against Crestwood was canceled.
The local teams are scheduled to travel to Perry on Jan. 10, and the Chagrin Valley Conference meet is slated for Jan. 18 at Hawken in Gates Mills.
