2 locals make all-star

units at Solon Classic

Two Aurora residents and members of the DG Warriors youth girls basketball teams made the tournament all-star team at the recent Solon Cage Classic. They are Sydney Polk of the seventh-grade team and Shay Sellers of the sixth-grade team.

For the first time in the DG Warriors program's four years of existence, it had five teams in the semifinals and were one of only two programs to win two championships.

Princess Freeman's sixth-grade girls and Derick Polk's seventh-grade girls went undefeated to win the event. Both rolled in the championship games by more than 20 points.

Randy White's fifth-grade girls, Ron Beckett's 10th-grade boys and Ray Mallet's ninth-grade girls lost in the semis. All those teams had been together only for three to four weeks.
