Crenshaw places; runs scheduled

Aurora resident Kristy Crenshaw, 34, finished 197th overall in the recent Strongsville Super Saturday 5K run. Her time was 32:58.9.

Meanwhile, the Towpath Half-Marathon and 5-miler will be run April 7 at 8 a.m.. The marathon will start on East 49th Street in Cleveland and the 5-miler in the Jennings-lower Harvard area. Costs to enter on race day are $60 for the half-marathon and $40 for the 5-miler.

The Charge Into Spring 5K will be April 6 at 8:15 a.m. at St. Mary's Church in Berea, and the Tiger Trot 5K will also be that day at 9 a.m. at the Massillon YMCA on Tremont Avenue SE.

Polks affiliated with DG Warriors

The DG Warriors seventh-grade girls elite basketball team, coached by Auroran Derick Polk, won the recent Midwest Hoopfest AAU tournament, beating a SMAC team by double digits in the championship game. Sydney Polk of Aurora is one of the members of the team.

Volleyball action is winding down

Today (April 3) is the last evening of the city's parks-recreation department winter adult volleyball regular season action at Harmon School. Playoffs are scheduled for April 10 and 17. Current standings are: Don't Have One Yet 6-0, Spike This 4-2, Spiked Punch 2-3, School Bus Satellites 1-4 and Safe Sets 1-5.

Meanwhile, the Friday night men's softball league will start play April 19 weather permitting and run through July 19. The Wednesday coed league will open April 17 snd run throughJuly 10. New teams still have until April 6 to register. Cost is $425 per team, not including umpire fees, which are $10 per team per game for one umpire. Two umpires will be used in the playoff championship game.
