The Cuyahoga Falls boys basketball team earned a trip to a Division I sectional title contest.

The Black Tigers posted a 48-42 victory over Wadsworth in a sectional semifinal contest Feb. 26 at Copley High School.

With the win, Falls (14-9) earned a date with top-seeded Nordonia (19-3) March 1 at 6 p.m.

The Grizzlies had a 25-15 lead early in the third quarter, but the Black Tigers responded with an 11-0 run. Wadsworth had the final say of the period when Kyle Prunty, who finished with a game-high 24 points, scored a layup with 10 seconds left. That basket gave the Grizzlies (12-11) a 27-26 advantage.

In the overtime period, Angelo Cugini's three-pointer gave Falls a 41-39 lead. The Black Tigers never relinquished their advantage the rest of the way.

Matt Lawrence, who led Falls with 16 points, followed with three throws and Devin Speicher and Henry Shaw each converted two free throws to put it away.
