The Nordonia High School boys bowling team has been either hot or cold during the 2012-13 season.

Last week, the Knights were hot, winning three matches in a row.

Nordonia started that winning streak against non-conference opponent Twinsburg Jan. 28, posting a convincing 2,513-1,962 victory.

Sophomore Ryan Liederbach paced the Knights with a high series of 430, while senior Kevin Nicholl contributed the high game with a 223.

On Jan. 30, Nordonia traveled to Turkeyfoot Lanes to battle Greater Summit County Bowling League foe Kenmore.

The Knights were victorious once again, this time by an even wider margin: 2,566-1,609.

Liederbach led Nordonia by rolling games of 236 and 234 for a 470 series. In addition, freshman Doug New bowled a game of 235 to aid the Knights' cause.

The following day, Nordonia hosted league rival Akron Copley at Roseland Lanes in what was Senior Night for the squad.

The Knights edged the Indians by the score of 2,478-2,328.

Liederbach, who has come on strong during the second half of the season, was again at the forefront of Nordonia's attack. He accounted for the Knights' high game, rolling a 252. He also added a 205 game for a series total of 457.

"All in all, the boys bowled really well this week," said Nordonia head coach Bob Glontz. "This season, one week they'll be hot, and then the next week they'll struggle. This was a good week for them."

With those three wins, the Knights improved their overall record to 11-4 and their ledger in league matches to 9-4.

This coming weekend, the Nordonia boys and girls bowling teams will participate in the Greater Summit County Bowling League Tournament at Midway Lanes in Akron.

The Knights will compete Feb. 9, while the girls will compete Feb. 10.

"There are a couple of teams in the league that are tough," said Glontz. "Right now, we're in third place in the conference standings. We've bowled a lot of matches at Midway, and we've been scoring pretty well lately. We have as good a chance as anybody [of winning the tournament]."
