Aurora -- Harmon School's wrestling squad continued its success recently. After seven dual matches, the team was undefeated, plus it won the Harmon Duals on Jan. 19 with a 5-0 mark.

Connor Bizjak and Kain Beaston were wrestlers of the week from the two competitions.

On Jan. 17, Harmon beat Orange and University School. In the duals, Chardon went 4-1 for second place and Mayfield was 3-2 for third place.

In the 70-6 victory over Orange, Jacob Loudon, Drew McVay, Zach Jenkins and Robby Albrecht set the momentum in early matches with hard-fought decisions.

Max Keilin made his starting debut at 92 pounds and wrestled well, then Daniel Droder, Dom Stuber and Bizjak picked up forfeits.

Then it was all pins recorded by Ryan Scantland, Jordan Pollard, Josh Loudon, Bubba Arslanian, J.T. Rose, Beaston, Caleb Tinsley and Patrick Windsor.

In the 78-12 win over University School, pins were earned by Jacob Loudon, Albrecht, Scantland, Rose, Beaston, Tinsley, Michael Carrasco and Mason Copley.

In the duals, Harmon beat Bedford 72-12, Chardon 45-36, Mayfield 66-24, South Euclid Memorial 66-27 and Willowick 66-26.

Against Bedford, McVay and Albrecht won tough decisions and Scantland, Bizjak, Josh Loudon and Tinsley won by pin. Loudon's came via an alligator roll, which was a real crowd pleaser. The remainder of the matches were forfeits.

Chardon was Harmon's toughest foe. Keilin put the locals on the scoreboard with a decision. Albrecht pinned, Droder won by forfeit, Stuber won by technical fall and Scantland won by decision.

Bizjak won an exciting 9-7 match with a takedown in overtime, then Arslanian, Rose and Beaston pinned.

Against Mayfield, Jacob Loudon won 9-7, McVay won 13-11 and Albrecht, Droder, Stuber, Scantland, Pollard, Loudon, Arslanian, Rose and tinsley pinned. Stuber's pin was so creative -- a killer cradle -- that the coaches discussed naming it after him, according to Harmon coach Paul Frankmann.

Against South Euclid Memorial, Tinsley's 172-pound bout was the toughest match. Against Willowick, Rose won a very physical match by pin in the third period. Pollard put on a takedown clinic before pinning him in the first period.

Copley and Carrasco had multiple wins and Nate Smierciak won his first match but injured his elbow and sat out the remainder of the day. Others who had success were Matt Crissman, Jenkins and Nate Whitelaw.

Unable to wrestle, but helping out at the tables were Will Lovell, Jimmy Kish and Gavan Baker.

Wrestlers who went 5-0 on the day were Droder, Stuber, Scantland and Arslanian. Harmon went 59-36 in takedowns, 37-17 in near falls, 33-9 in pins and 42-14 in matches wrestled.
