Everyone got involved for the Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy boys basketball team in a league victory over visiting Indian Valley 73-42.

It was a big win for the Royals, who excelled on defense and had plenty of hot shooting to move to 3-1 in the Principals Athletic Conference after the Dec. 28 win.

CVCA moved to 5-2 overall as a slew of Royals scored off the bench and rangy senior guard Bob Peters exploded for 26 points.

The recent Indiana Wesleyan University recruit sizzled from the field for the Royals.

Senior forward Caleb Kleibscheidel, a 6-foot-5, 220-pound veteran, contributed 11 points and nine rebounds while senior forward Alex Punka and sophomore wing Luke Peters each scored eight points.

The team's three senior returning starters -- Bob Peters (four-year starter), Kleibscheidel (three-year veteran), and Punka (third-year) continue to be the Royals' cornerstone.

Another veteran senior forward, J.J. Friszman, scored seven points and has been contributing.

Head coach Jay Peters is happy to see his strong bench play and Friszman playing some of his best overall basketball.

Sophomore guards Mike Peters and Jeff Britton added five and four points, respectively for CVCA.

Junior guard Marty Lee added two points as he continues to get healthy while senior forward Antonio Carroscia added a free throw.

The Braves (5-3 overall and 2-2 in the PAC) were led by 6-foot-3 All-District guard Brett Cox, who had 16 points, five rebounds, and three assists.

Forward Brady Byers added 10 points as Indian Valley has already reached its win total from last year's 5-17 club.

CVCA started a grueling portion of the schedule with a tough road trip Jan. 4 at PAC leader Manchester (7-2, 4-0), but final results weren't available as of this writing.

The Royals play Jan. 8 in a non-league clash at Dayton Christian. It will be the teams' first meeting as the Warriors were 16-6 last year.

On Jan. 11, CVCA hosts PAC rival Wooster Triway (2-5, 2-2), which had an uncharacteristic 5-8 showing in league play last year. The Royals host Gilmour Academy (7-2) on Jan. 12 in a tough non-league test.
