Aurora United Soccer Club is accepting new players for the Winter II session, which begins with practices Jan. 7. Any boy or girls born from 2002 to 2006 is eligible for the U8, U9, U10 or U11 squad.

Teams practice twice a week, with games played generally on Sunday afternoons. Aurora United has 17 teams and more than 200 players ranging from 7 to 17 years old. The club was formed in 1999 as a feeder program for the high school boys program, and introduced the girls side of the club in 2010.

All coaches are licensed with OYSAN, and training for all teams is overseen by director Chris Gentille, the AHS boys varsity soccer coach since 1994.

All players are trained with the goal of developing good foot skills, field awareness and knowledge of the game that is needed to play at each level up to high school.

More than 73 percent of Aurora United players play up in age, enhancing the development and competitive process. The program has trained more than 150 high school players, 70 all-conference players, 57 all-district player, three all-Ohio players and 25 boys who have gone on to play at the college level.

All of the current AHS boys roster is comprised of Aurora United players.

New families who are interested in registering their son or daughter for the upcoming session should call 330-348-0601, or email or Deadline for Winter II session signups is Jan. 6.
