Aurora's Raptors 10U girls fast-pitch softball squad clinched a berth to the American Softball Association national tournament by winning the Eastlake Summer Classic qualifying tourney.Sponsors of the team are Chamberlain's Hair Styling, Ryan Homes, Karen's Krea-tions, Dr. C. Aydin Cabi and Imagine That Embroidery.The Raptors qualified by going undefeated in pool play at Eastlake with a record of 2-0-1. The tie came against Leroy's Legions 4-4, while the wins were over Central Park Crushers 10-1 and Top Guns 11-0.The preliminary games earned the Raptors the No. 1 seed for the elimination round, where they defeated Top Guns again 7-3 and Leroy's Legions 5-2 to claim the crown.According to a team spokesman, dominant pitching came from Sadie Jones and a solid defense helped the squad give up only 10 runs in five games.Jones pitched two games on the final day, holding Top Guns and Leroy's Legions to five runs in 14 innings. She struck out 16 in two contests.Defensive highlights in-cluded catcher Taylor Banc, first baseman Grace Ald-redge, second baseman Kali Bachman, shortstop Julie Zidones, third baseman Sam Arslanian, leftfielder Hannah Piazza, centerfielder Devan Ternai and rightfielder Jenna Kerchanski.The Raptors also had success at the plate, scoring 37 runs in the five games.
