The Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library's 2017 Summer Reading theme is "Building a Community of Readers" and we are inviting the whole community to participate.

Summer time is a great time for the whole community to read. Activities and contests begin May 30 and everyone, including babies and adults can participate. Stop in the library on or after May 30 to join, or sign up online today at

Participating in the Summer Reading Program is a wonderful way to stop summer reading loss. Numerous studies have shown reading over the summer prevents the "summer slide" a phenomenon observed when students lose some of the skills they built up during the school year.

Every year, the Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library develops a summer reading program to promote literacy in our community, to introduce families to the library, and to help kids keep their minds active and enter school ready to learn. Plus, we have great prizes for people in all age groups. We are excited to have food coupons to nearby restaurants, Lego sets, a Kindle Fire, Little Tikes Play Sets, and Monkey backpacks for kids, among other items. We also have library book bags, tickets to Porthouse Theatre, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum, Hale Farm and Village, and the Akron Symphony, to name a few for adults.

Highlights of our summer programs include Snapology's Creature Creator Robotics Class, a STEM Program, Super Mario Smash Bros. Tournament, an amateur Photo Contest, Petting Zoo, Beginning Beekeeping, Stow Corners Walking Tour, Summer Book Sale, Escape Room!, Cupcake Wars, Building Bonanza, a Magic Show and more. Start your summer off right like the 232 teens, 433 adults, and 1,927 children who did last year. We hope to see you at the library.
