As Adjutant of American Legion Post 801, I would like to make two corrections to the Feb. 15 article "Nordonia Hills veterans plan memorial park dedication." First, the benches are not granite. Black granite gets uncomfortably hot under a summer sun and stone cold in frigid weather. The ADA compliant 6-foot benches and picnic tables are US made of post-consumer plastics with added UV stabilizers, colorant and stainless steel hardware. They are made to last a lifetime. Significant engraving space is available on them. The tables are wheelchair compatible.

Second, Kotecki Family Memorials has been given the contract and down payment for a solid black granite monument with laser etched artwork and text. It is scheduled for installation in May. Additional information can be found at www.nordoniahillsveteransmemorialpark.com. I would like to add that a key part of the park had been left out. It is a separate area with the names of those KIA's (Killed in Action) from Nordonia Hills from all conflicts that the United States has been involved. This area will be in an appropriate setting with a reflecting pond. What is needed is the name and records for documentation of the death as a result of enemy action. See the website to contact us.
