The contentious 2016 election is barely in the rearview, but it appears as though Ohio Treasurer Josh Mandel is already on the campaign trail.

Mandel, who has publicly discussed his plans to run for the Senate seat currently occupied by Sherrod Brown, has been vocal on social media over the past few weeks, decrying everything from sanctuary cities to "liberal elites" (his words, not mine) who are too busy clanking lattes to care about our state or federal government. Meanwhile, most of his rants have been posted during business hours. Mandel is using his public office - and the public's time and resources - to broadcast his personal opinions.

While I applaud the Ohio Treasurer's appreciation of free speech, I have a message for him: do it on your own time, not the taxpayers'.
