We have started populating the Next Exit History (NEH) app with Hudson's exciting historic sites and plaques! Those who have downloaded the NEH app may have suddenly seen more places, but what we have uploaded is very much a work in progress.

I'm still trying to figure out how to combine the plaques that NEH had loaded onto the site with the additional information we have. Right now there are several places with duplicate listings (although I may figure that out before this column appears in print).

The sites that are most complete so far are Case Barlow Farm and Western Reserve Academy.

Both have a number of photographs, with quite a lot of information. If you have not explored both these places full of Hudson history, the monthly open houses at Case Barlow Farm will start up again this spring on every second Sunday and we have free walking maps available at the Visitor Center & Gift Shop for Western Reserve Academy and other downtown areas.

The app for smart phones is a small blue square with a circle and a road marked Rt 66. I wanted to post a picture of that for you, but couldn't figure out how, so what is showing is the face of a phone that has the app installed.

There were many groups of people exploring town last Saturday, and I introduced some of them to the app and sent them out to explore. Much of the information and many of the photos are taken from the Hudson Heritage Association Walking Tours, and soon these tours in their entirely will be available on the NEH app.

Still to come are more exciting things we can create something called "Backpacks" and also create "History Hunter" games. If any reader has IT knowledge and some spare time, email destinationhudsonohio@gmail.com - we'd love some help.
