I read with interest State Rep. Kathleen Clyde's (D-Kent) proposal to have automatic voter registration as a "solution to voter purging and to voter oppression." (Feb. 15, "Bill would mean automatic voter registration for Ohioans.") It appears that she wants to have everyone registered to vote to have more participation in the democratic process.

I think she should have them also added to the municipal/state civil/criminal jury pools at the same time. She could also make stiffer fines/incarceration, making it a felony for false voter registration, or voting in two states. There could also be stiffer fines/incarceration for failure to answer a jury subpoena/summons once served, which should also be a felony.
