As we kick off another exciting year of redevelopment and revitalization in the City of Cuyahoga Falls, you can feel the excitement that continues to build on Front Street. The initial phase of engineering is nearing completion, and downtown historic preservation efforts remain underway. The goal remains to open the pedestrian mall to two-way vehicular traffic.

I want to personally invite you to join me for a public meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 31, at 6 p.m. in the Erie Room at the Natatorium to hear a comprehensive update on the progress and momentum of our Downtown Transformation project. During the meeting, we will discuss infrastructure, market review and concepts, branding, brainstorming, and your questions. Further, you will see interview stations on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1 at local venues so that we can get your feedback about how you feel about downtown and what you envision it to look like when the project is complete. With approval from City Council, we could begin road construction in late spring of this year. I will continue to keep you updated as this project evolves and as we present additional opportunities for public engagement and input.

This is an opportunity to create economic growth through a retail market, better traffic flow, and historic preservation. This area is the economic lifeblood of our downtown and we want it to thrive. I am energized by and committed to the potential for economic growth along the riverfront.

I hope to see you on Jan. 31 to talk about this exciting opportunity to build a more prosperous and promising business district in our downtown. Thank you for allowing me to continue to serve this great city. I wish you and your family good health and happiness in 2017.
