I am urging the

public to vote "No" on Issue 18 on Nov. 8.

Issue 18 is just another example of how local government fails to gather and use resources wisely, and then reaches out to squeeze even more from the taxpayer.

Frankly, I am tired of it. Money does not grow on trees.

We had an inept administration in the former Mayor Kuchta, who -- among other foibles -- created massive legal bills for unnecessary litigation, and now it seems our city is paying the price.

Well, I will not stand for it and I will not vote for Issue 18.

The advertisement in support of Issue 18 blithely states that it will cost only $10.50 for every $50,000 of income. That is a per-month figure.

That equates to over $120 a year. For individuals with higher incomes, that amount increases.

When are we going to stop wasteful spending and use taxpayer monies wisely? With voters' support, that time is now. Enough is enough.
