STOW- James R. Amlung, 88, died April 23, 2017.

Born in Akron, he was a lifetime Stow resident, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War and past commander of Stow American Legion Post 175. Jim's support for his community was never-ending. For 50 years he served as the Master of Ceremonies for the Memorial Day services at Stow Cemetery, "retired" as a Stow Police Dept. reservist and continued serving beyond his retirement as chaplain for the Stow F.O.P./F.O.P.A.. Jim was also active in every aspect of Masonry, including as past Master of Hudson Lodge #510 F & AM.

Preceded in death by his wife Jackie, he is survived by his daughters Joyce Amlung and Denise Japps; son Richard Amlung and grandsons David and Timothy Japps.

A "final salute" was held for Jim at the Acker-Moore Memorial Post. Visitation and a Masonic service, conducted by Hudson Lodge #510 F & AM, was held at Redmon Funeral Home.
