Dina Kauders Leonard, of Hudson, died peacefully at home on September 26, 2016.

Dina was born on February 26, 1938 in Prague, Czech Republic. She immigrated with her late parents, Erick and Frances Kauders, to the United States, on January 8, 1941, via the ship, Carvalho Araujo. Upon arriving in the US, they settled first in Salem, MA and later moved to Marblehead, MA where she continued to enjoy a summer home with her own family until 1991.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Henry Beardsell Leonard, to whom she was devoted. She is survived by her children, Nathaniel (Elizabeth) of Hudson; daughter, Emily (Matthew) Kite of Cincinnati; and five treasured grandgirls, Emma and Sarah Leonard and Natalie, Claire and Eliza Kite. She also leaves brothers Andrew (Faith) Kauders of Burgess, VA and Christopher (Lee) Kauders of West Newton Hill, MA.

She graduated from Chatham Hall, Pine Manor and Boston University where she earned a degree in English Literature. She took an active part in church and community organizations such as the Erie Literary Society, Women’s Fellowship, Christian Education and Pioneer Women. She particularly loved spending time with her granddaughters and children as well as travelling and exploring arts and culture with her late husband, Henry. Dina’s wit, intellect, wisdom, compassion and love of rhyme were easily shared and widely appreciated. She personified perseverance, courage, fortitude, dignity and grace until the very end. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to Cleveland Sight Center or First Congregational Church of Hudson where a memorial service celebrating her life will be held on October 8, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements by Johnson-Romito Funeral Home, Hudson, OH (330-650-4181). www.johnsonromito.com
