Was Bedford Heights mayor
Mass of Christian Burial was to be cdlebrated today (June 18) at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Aurora for Lucille J. Reed (Barbuto) Narducci, 88, of Aurora and formerly of Bedford Heights, who died June 15, 2014, at Kensington Care Center in Aurora.
She was elected mayor of Bedford Heights in 1966, and was the first woman elected mayor of a city in Cuyahoga County. Her administration was instrumental in developing the Reed Park development, which is the site of an outdoor pool and picnic pavillion.
The city saw its most rapid expansion under her administration, doubling its population. The present City Hall and the onset of many programs resulted in a long term for Mrs. Reed. She served until 1981, when she decided not to run again.
She was the wife of the late Carl Narducci, mother of Donald Reed, grandmother of Donna and Raymond Reed, great-grandmother of Rayanna Reed, sister of the late John (Linda) Barbato, Rosemary (the late Alfred) DiSiena, the late Sam (Johanna) Barbato, the late Antionette (Bill) Lerchbacher, Joanne (the late Ed) Mullins, Cecile (Daniel) Guinto, Sandra (the late John) Cardinal, and the aunt of many.
Entombment was to follow the services at Hillcrest Cemetery in Bedford Heights. Johnson-Rom ito Funeral Home in Northfield is handling arrangements.
