Funeral services will be June 19, at 2 p.m. at the Green Family Funeral Home and Crematory Service in Mantua for Joan Friedman, 82, who died June 15, 2014, at her residence in Aurora.
Born in Cleveland on Nov. 6, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Theodore R. and Jewel (McAndrews) Havel. Following graduation from Collinwood High School, she moved to New York City, where she became a lifetime resident until moving to Aurora in 2008.
She was a professional model and was employed for more than 25 years at Ford Modeling in New York, and was on the cover of Vogue Magazine several times during her career.
A woman who loved animals, she became a horse enthusiast, spending time in the country enjoying her passion. A woman of many artistic talents, she also loved traveling, including to England and Europe.
Survivors include her loving nephews Theodore F. (Jeanne) Havel Jr. and John F. (Tatsyana) Havel, both of Hudson; niece Laura A. (Douglas W.) Irish of Green; and sister-in-law Joan Havel of Aurora. She was preceded in death by her brother Theodore F. Havel Sr. in 2011.
