DONNA J. FRENCH
Was librarian for schools
Services were Jan. 26 in the Aurora Library gallery for longtime Aurora schools librarian Donna Jane (Unger) French, 81, who died Jan. 21, 2013.
Born Nov. 19, 1931 in Youngstown, she was the daughter of Margaret (White) and Leonard C. Unger, graduated from Poland High School in 1949 and attended Hiram College and the Trumbull Memorial Hospital School of Nursing.
She established the Aurora school district's elementary libraries in 1961 and was head elemenary librarian until her retirement in 1998.
Survivors include her children Linda French (E. Wilson "Bill") Griffin, Douglas French, Jill French, Suzanne (John) Spilsbury, Becky (Kalydosos) French, Annie French and Jodi (Jeff) French-Burr.
Also surviving are grandchildren Joshua (Allison) Griffin, Margaret Griffin, Luke Clavey, Daniel Clavey, April Bleakney, Kasta French, Benjamin Spilsburg, Nzinga French and Lily Burr; great-grandchildren Jonathan Saul Griffin and Kavell Gilbert-French; brother Ray (Marilyn) Unger and many cousins, nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Park French. The couple was married in 1952.
