Well-known home builder

Services were Jan. 19 at Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua for Thomas J. Wurm, 57, of Aurora, who died Jan. 14 at his residence.

Born in Cleveland on April 16, 1955, he was the son of the late Edward A. and Margaret (Desborough) Wurm. A lifelong Aurora resident, he graduated from Aurora High School in 1973, where he was a member of the wrestling team.

In 1979, Mr. Wurm and his brother Edward took over Wurm Builders, a business started by their father, and changed the name to Classic Homes. They built many homes in the city.

An expert furniture maker, he enjoyed the outdoors, including fishing and skeet shooting. He and his children built a home at Pelee Island in Canada, where they spent many summers.

Survivors include his wife Diane (Logan) Wurm, whom he married Sept. 15, 1978; sons Thomas J. (Ellen) Wurm and Matthew J. (Renee) Wurm; daughter Megan (Robert) Romick, all of University Heights; and siblings Edward (Cathy) Wurm of Mantua, Betty (Jerry Oriel) Wurm of Twinsburg, Kathleen (John "King") Kolar of Aurora and Eileen Wurm of Plymouth, Mich.

The Rev. Michael Garvey of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Mantua officiated at the service. Mr. Wurm was buried in Aurora Cemetery.
