Was resident of Kensington

Visitation took place Jan. 13 at Johnson-Romito Funeral Home in Twinsburg for Ruth S. Toomey, 97, who died Jan. 7, 2013 at Hillcrest Hospital in Mayfield. She had lived at Kensington Care Center in Aurora since May, 2012.

Born Aug. 12, 1915, in New Bridgeville, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Dr. William J. and Ida Smith Shenberger.

Her family moved to Windsor, Pa. in 1918, where she resided until moving to Aurora. She was the wife of the late Harold D. Toomey, president of the Enterprise Tobacco Corp. in Red Lion, Pa.

She was a gourmet cook and enjoyed gardening, fashions, baseball, deep sea fishing, horse racing, traveling with her husband, playing bridge and shopping.

Survivors include her son William S. (Nancy M.) Toomey of Aurora; grandchildren William H. Toomey of Aurora, Michael P. Toomey (Patricia Wagner) of Findlay and John C. (Jennifer) Toomey of Carlsbad, Calif.; great-grandchildren Ariel Toomey of Henderson, Nev. and Chase Toomey of Orange, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.

She also was preceded in death by sisters Hester (George) Wood and Ferne Seitz and brother-in-law Clyde Seitz.
