CUYAHOGA FALLS -- Russell J. Baeli "Poppy", 78, went home to be with our Lord unexpectedly Dec. 19, 2012. Russ was born in Akron and had resided in Cuyahoga Falls most of his life.

He had been a professional golfer at Firestone Country Club and began his career in car sales with Dick McCulley in the early sixties. He continued in car sales with Tom Botzum and went on to own Kent Lincoln Mercury from 1969 to 1982. He retired from the automotive business in 2002 and enjoyed time with his family and friends. He had served with the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne during the Korean War and was a member of St. Eugene's Parish in Cuyahoga Falls. He will always be remembered for his sense of humor and wit. He also had an uncanny ability to remember everyone he met and always considered them as a friend.

Preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Frank Baeli, Fran Viele, Ann Tanney and Bill Baeli, he is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Dolores; children, MaryJane "Terri" Seifert of Tallmadge; Russell W. Baeli of Cuyahoga Falls and Paula (David) Volpe of Cuyahoga Falls; grandchildren, William (Tracy), Andrew, Vincenzo and Mario; great-grandchild, Devyn; many wonderful nephews and nieces.

There will be no calling hours. Cremation has taken place. A private service will be conducted at a later date. In lieu of other remembrances, memorials may be made to St. Eugene's Church, 1821 Munroe Falls Ave., Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221; St. Jude's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
