JEANETTE M. DOWNEYStow-Munroe Falls High School teacher for 28 yearsJeanette M. Downey, 57, died May 19, 2007.Born in Akron, she was a lifetime area resident. Mrs. Downey graduated from St. Vincent-St. Mary High School in 1968, and received a bachelor's degree from the University of Akron in 1971 and a master's degree from the University of Akron in 1973. She taught home economics and restaurant management at Stow-Munroe Falls High School for 28 years. She also was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, and was active in St. Bernards Soup Kitchen, Pro-Life organizations and numerous charities. She recently served as vice president of Catholic Social Services.She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Ray; daughters Tricia (Allen) Downey-Rodgers, Erin (Tim) Zgonc and Megan (Chris) Slattery; son Steven Downey; parents Mary Jean and Robert Kus of Stow; sister Christine Murray of Cuyahoga Falls; brothers Fr. Robert Kus of North Carolina and Lawrence (Sally) Kus of New York; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.Visitation took place at Redmon Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial took place at Holy Family Catholic Church, with celebrants Father Paul Rosing and Father Robert Kus. Burial took place at Holy Cross Cemetery.
