STOW — A Friar Road man died after he was struck by a pickup truck in the parking lot of the RSVP Food & Party Outlet at 4431 Kent Road at about 5:10 p.m. Monday.

Police said that 86-year-old James W. Skeese was unresponsive when they arrived and police officers initiated CPR. Stow EMS took Skeese to Akron City Hospital, where he later died from his injuries, said police.

Skeese had been walking through the parking lot of the store, which is in the same shopping plaza as the Acme grocery store, when he was struck by a 2001 Dodge Ram driven by a 19-year-old Kent man. Police said the man remained at the scene and was cooperative.

The Summit Metro Crash Response Team is assisting Stow police with a pending investigation and no charges or citations have been filed, said police, and alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in the crash.
