Sedan or Van Transportation, a private car/van service based in Hudson, is going to "Drive Away Hunger" once again.
The company announced last week that its minibus will be back on Hudson’s Historic Green Oct. 25 from 3 to 7 p.m. to collect food and donations as part of Sedan or Van Transportation’s second annual "Drive Away Hunger" food drive.
The event, presented in partnership with the Merchants of Hudson and Destination Hudson, will feature Sedan or Van Transportation’s minibus parked on Church Street, just east of Main Street. Residents are encouraged to stop by with food and donations from 3 to 7 p.m.
That evening, trick-or-treaters will descend on Main Street to collect treats from local merchants. Sedan or Van Transportation is asking participating families to stop by, make a donation and fill the minibus with needed food items.
Later that evening, all donations and food items will be dropped off at the Hudson Community Service Association’s Food Pantry. All donations will stay in Hudson and benefit the city’s neediest residents.
"Last year, Hudson residents and clients of Sedan or Van Transportation stepped up to donate more than 400 pounds of food," said Jeff Adelman, president of Sedan or Van Transportation. "We are thankful for that generosity. This year, I want us to double, if not triple, that generosity and completely fill our minibus with food — especially since all donations will stay right here in Hudson."
"The Hudson community has supported Sedan or Van Transportation for the past six years, and we want to keep giving back," Adelman said. "I am asking everyone in town, not just our clients, to drop off food, a check or both on Oct. 25 so we can ‘Drive Away Hunger’ from Hudson."
