Aurora police took an 18-year-old armed man into custody at about 9 a.m Tuesday morning in a wooded area of the Highlands neighborhood.
Police say the man was taken into custody without incident following a Monday night call regarding a domestic disturbance. According to Aurora Police Chief Brian Byard, the man was in possession of a shotgun. Byard said no charges had been filed yet and no police report was immediately available.
The police department wrote on its Facebook page that the man fled when police responded and police looked for him throughout the night.
Byard said as a precaution extra police presence was ordered at all Aurora schools, but there was no threat ever made against any school and the man has no ties to the schools.
Superintendent Pat Ciccantelli was not immediately available for comment.
