Operating a vehicle
under the influence
Man seen weaving: An Akron man, 37, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, blood alcohol content, marijuana possession, weaving and unsafe vehicle after police stopped his vehicle on Ohio 82 near Independence Parkway at about 2:10 a.m. Aug. 11. Police said the man performed poorly on the field sobriety tests and his BAC level measured at 0.126 percent, higher than the 0.08 percent legal limit. He was given a Stow Municipal Court date and later released from Solon City Jail on a 10 percent of $2,500 bond.
Near crashes reported: A Wickliffe man, 55, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and blood alcohol content test refusal after police responded to a report that the man was weaving all over the road and nearly crashed into several other vehicles while eastbound on Interstate 480 at about 9:35 p.m. Aug. 11. Police said they found the man in his vehicle pulled over to the side of the highway and they took him to Summit County Jail.
Gas pump hit: A South Euclid man, 61, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, blood alcohol content, and reckless operation after police responded to a report that the man’s vehicle struck a gas pump at a Ravenna Road service station at a little after 11 p.m. Aug. 11. Police said the man’s BAC level measured at 0.281 percent, more than three times the 0.08 percent legal limit. He was held in Summit County Jail on a 10 percent of $2,500 bond. A police report did not say whether the pump was damaged.
Store reports cigarette theft: A North Gilwood Drive woman was charged with misdemeanor theft after an employee at a Hadden Road store the woman worked at reported Aug. 9 that the woman took 35 packs of cigarettes totaling about $230 in value from the store since early July. The woman was given a Stow Municipal Court date and released on a personal bond.
Bank reports scam: An employee of an Ohio 82 bank reported Aug. 1 that an unidentified person used deception to short change the bank out of $900.
Breaking and entering
Man allegedly stealing cigarettes: A 30-year-old Cleveland man was charged with breaking and entering, theft, and vandalism, all fifth-degree felonies, after police responded to a burglar alarm at a Hadden Road service station store at about 3:20 a.m. Aug. 7. Police said they found the store’s front door was broken, with more than $1,000 in damage, and the man inside the store was allegedly trying to take cartons of cigarettes totaling more than $2,600 in value. The man was taken to Solon City Jail.
Fraudulent charges report: A Westwood Drive woman reported Aug. 3 that someone charged unspecified charges against her credit union account. Police said the charges were canceled and the woman was not out any money.
Marijuana found in vehicle: A Cleveland woman, 40, was cited with minor misdemeanor drug possession and speeding after police said they clocked her vehicle’s speed at 96 mph in a 65 mph zone and stopped it on Interstate 480 at about 9:30 p.m. Aug. 3. Police said the woman gave her consent for them to search her vehicle and they found a small amount of suspected marijuana in it.
Suspect fled scene: Police responded after receiving a report that an unknown male was trying to enter a Ravenna Road apartment at a little after 9 a.m. Aug. 2. Police said the male fled the area before they arrived and it was determined he did not enter the apartment.
Eggs hit home: An Alling Drive woman reported Aug. 2 that someone struck her home’s roof and rear deck with eggs during the night. Police said no damage was reported.
