Following his arrest and investigation, Lawrence Allen Hartley, 59, of Powhatan Point, was charged with felony counts of Rape (F1) and Sexual Battery (F3) in Cambridge Municipal Court on Aug. 13.
Guernsey County Sheriff’s Detectives report that deputies responded to a home on Lashley Road around 4 a.m. Aug. 12 after a woman called in, saying her daughter had been raped.
Officers spoke with the 46-year-old victim, who said she was asleep and had awoken to find a male intruder in her home, who was sexually assaulting her. Following the alleged assault, the male fled the scene.
The victim described the man to deputies, who located a suspect – reportedly Hartley – who matched the description at a near-by residence.
