WEST POINT, N.Y. – Cadet Jonathan Carter Morton, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Morton III of Cambridge, graduated from the U.S. Military Academy on May 26. He is the grandson of John Morton Jr. and Don Kerr, both of Cambridge, and Mary Jane Mathews of Byesville.

Morton graduated from Buckeye Trail High School in 2014.

While at West Point, he concentrated his studies in Defense and Strategic Studies. He was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army within the Military Police branch.

The mission of the U.S. Military Academy is to educate, train and inspire the Corps of Cadets so that each graduate is a commissioned leader of character committed to the values of duty, honor and country, and is prepared for a career of professional excellence and service to the nation as an officer in the United States Army.
