Burglary

Doorknob broken: A Suncrest Drive woman reported someone broke into her home through the locked front door, causing about $50 in damage to the doorknob, while she was away during the evening June 22. The woman said nothing appeared to be missing.

TV and game system stolen: A Hardman Drive woman reported June 21 that someone took a 56-inch television set and a video game system totaling about $1,450 from her apartment since June 5. A police report did not say whether there was forced entry.

Boy sees suspect: A Suncrest Drive man reported that while his 14-year-old son was home alone, the boy saw an unknown male walk into their home through an open back door at about 6:20 p.m. June 15. The man said the male quickly left, apparently when he realized the boy was there. Nothing was reported taken.

Escape

Woman leaves hospital: A 36-year-old Akron woman was charged with first-degree misdemeanor charges of escape and theft after she she left Akron City Hospital wearing a $50 Cuyahoga Falls City Jail uniform June 22, said police. Police said the woman, who was being held in the jail on a misdemeanor theft charge, was taken to the hospital for an unspecified reason. An arrest warrant was issued for her arrest.

Criminal damaging

Vehicle mirrors removed: A Maitland Avenue man reported June 21 that someone removed both of his vehicle’s side mirrors from their housings, leaving the driver’s side housing cracked, while the vehicle was parked outside his home since the day before. Police said the damage was estimated at about $350. The man also said all four of the vehicle’s tires were deflated.

Car scratched: A Pinebrook Trail man reported June 21 that someone scratched one of his car’s doors while the car was parked outside his home since the day before. A police report did not include a damage estimate.

Vehicle window smashed: A Chestnut Boulevard woman reported June 19 that someone smashed a side window of her vehicle while it was parked outside her home since the day before. A police report did not include a damage estimate.

Fender dented: A Ravenna man reported someone caused an estimated $300 in damage by denting his vehicle’s front fender while the vehicle was parked in an East Portage Trail parking lot during the day June 19.

Theft

Tablet stolen at store: A Rootstown woman reported someone took her approximately $500 tablet computer while she was shopping at a Howe Avenue store during the afternoon June 21.

Glasses frames stolen: A Howe Avenue store employee reported an unknown person left the store without paying for three glasses frames totaling about $600 in value June 21.

Lumber stolen from work site: A home building firm employee reported June 20 that someone took approximately 50 pieces of lumber valued at about $200 from an Old Mill Drive construction site during the previous five days.

Bike and scooter stolen: A Myrtle Avenue man reported someone took a men’s bicycle and a child’s scooter totaling about $120 in value from in front of his home during the day June 19.

Residents report thefts from vehicles: Four residents living in a southwest area of the city reported June 18 that someone entered vehicles outside their homes, with thefts reported in three cases.

A Maurice Street man reported someone took a suitcase containing clothing and hygiene products totaling about $110 in value from his unlocked vehicle during the night.

A Northmoreland Boulevard man reported someone took items totaling about $80 in value from unlocked vehicles outside her home during the night.

A Myrtle Avenue man reported someone took two video games and a digital music storage device totaling about $40 in value from his locked vehicle while it was parked in his driveway during the night. Police said there were no signs of forced entry.

A Queens Gate Circle man reported someone entered two unlocked vehicles, but did not take anything, during the previous two days.
