William Van Scoy of Ashland was among 19 students who participated in Baldwin Wallce University’s "Discovering China" study abroad program in Hong Kong, Shanghai and Beijing during the spring 2018 semester.

Van Scoy, a graduate of Ashland High School majoring in management, completed courses in sociology and business before going on the three-week experience led by sociology professor Liya Wang and business professor John Fuehrer. The program gives students an opportunity to experience 5,000 years of Chinese culture while also gaining insight into modern international business.

In addition to visits to Chinese cultural landmarks such as the Great Wall, Po Lin Monastery and Temple of Heaven, students also visited several Chinese businesses to witness modern business and management practices firsthand.
