As first reported on WTOV-TV 9, students at Barnesville Middle School raised $27,839 in their fundraiser, "Cutting Class for A Cure," Friday, May 18 during activities at the school campus.

Students enjoyed the day outside of the classroom playing games and participating in fundraising activities.

This year marked the ninth year for the event.

The students raised $4,149 more than last year, all going toward the fight against cancer, said organizer and teacher Denise Adkins Leach.

If people need assistance, the only requirement is that they reside in Belmont County (and of course are diagnosed with cancer). They can contact the organization at cuttingclassforacure@gmail.com
