Theft

Power tools stolen from store: An employee of a store in West Avenue's 300 block reported two unknown men walked out of the store without paying for cordless power tools totaling about $980 in value Monday. The employee said the men left with the tools in a vehicle. Police said they searched the area, but were unable to find the vehicle.

Checks stolen from vehicle: A South Thomas Road woman reported someone took two checks from her unlocked vehicle while it was parked outside a store in West Avenue's 200 block during the afternoon May 10. The woman said she deactivated the bank account the checks were associated with.

Criminal damaging

Mailbox damaged with rock: A man reported someone used a rock to damage his $25 mailbox outside his home in Whittlesey Drive's 400 block in the evening May 8. The man said it was the third time his mailbox had been damaged during the previous six months.

Breaking and entering

Items taken from storage units: Two Akron women reported someone took items from storage units they rented in Brittain Road's 1500 block.

One woman said May 5 that she discovered someone removed the lock on her unit and took numerous items that had belonged to her deceased mother totaling about $15,000 in value since the beginning of August 2017.

The other woman reported discovering May 3 that someone removed the lock off her unit and took an air compressor, upright freezer, miscellaneous collectibles and household items totaling about $1,700 in value during the previous month.
