AKRON — Summa Health is hosting a free skin cancer screening event on Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon at the Jean and Milton Cooper Pavilion located on Summa’s Akron Campus.
With May being National Skin Cancer Awareness Month and warmer weather on the horizon, now is the perfect time to join community dermatologists for free rapid skin exams and cancer prevention tips. When detected early, skin cancer — including melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer — is highly treatable.
It is important to note that this event is a rapid screening for skin cancer and should not replace or serve as a substitute for a yearly examination with your physician or dermatologist.
One in every five Americans will develop skin cancer by the age of 70, but routine checkups by a board-certified dermatologist or physician can prevent a diagnosis.
Call 330-375-7280 to R.S.V.P. Space is limited and free parking is available in the adjacent Cooper Pavilion lot off of North Forge Street.
Participating physicians are not allowed to provide treatment at the time of the screening. Visit the Summa Health table at the event for additional health education materials.
