In remembrance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in the 50th anniversary year of his passing, Hiram College will host At the Edge of the Promised Land: Martin Luther King Jr., Protest Movements and the Struggle for Grassroots Democracy in America on April 25.

A complimentary dinner will be held at 5:30 p.m. for the first 200 guests on the second floor of the Kennedy Center, 11730 Garfield Road in Hiram. The lecture will begin at 7 p.m. in Hayden Auditorium in Bates Hall, 11715 Garfield Road in Hiram. Keynote speaker will be Dr. Juan Floyd-Thomas, associate professor of African American Religious History at Vanderbilt University Divinity School. Following Floyd-Thomas’ lecture a reception and book signing will be held at 8:30 p.m. back in the Kennedy Center.
