AKRON — Intermittent outages of the 911 service have been reported in several areas, including Northfield Center Township and Twinsburg Township.
People with an emergency residing in those areas and who cannot use 911 are asked to call the sheriff's department at 330-643-2181.
LeighAnn Slaughter, communications supervisor, said the first work ticket created was around 9 a.m.
"We've been troubleshooting and working with AT&T," Slaughter said. "It's not a complete outage by any means, it's intermittent."
Slaughter said the last update the sheriff's department received from AT&T, at 2:24 p.m., stated that AT&T felt it could be a possible network issue.
Other agencies throughout Ohio also have reported similar issues, Slaughter added.
