For David and the Decatur twins, it’s showtime at the Division II state wrestling tournament.

Woodridge 126-pounder David Massey and Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy’s Jacob and Jordan Decatur each advanced to their respective state title matches Friday at Value City Arena in Columbus.

Massey will have chance to become Woodridge’s first state champion at the Division II level and first since Chris Hamed won the Division III 125-pound title in 2004.

He advanced to the final by beating Medina Buckeye’s Jake Bartinelli 2-1 in the quarterfinals and then scoring a 5-3 win over Circleville’s Caleb Brooks in the semifinals. He will face St. Paris Graham’s Nick Moore in the Division 126-pound title match.

Massey wasn’t the only Bulldog who earned All-Ohio honors, as senior 152-pounder Isaac Yoho went 2-0 Friday.

Yoho secured his All-Ohio spot with a 7-3 win over Napoleon’s Zach Altman and then scored a 3-2 win over Bellevue’s Nick Smythe to reach the consolation semifinals. He will face Waseon’s Sandro Ramirez in the consolation semifinals.

Woodridge had hoped to have 170-pounder Spencer Robinson earn All-Ohio honors, but he lost 6-5 in the ultimate tie-breaker round to Akron Springfield’s Jack Rogan.

For CVCA, Jacob Decatur will wrestle for the Division II 106-pound title for the second straight year.

Jacob Decatur dominated West Holmes’ Cael Woods 8-2 in the quarterfinals and then beat Firelands’ Payton Burgdorf 14-5 in the semifinals.

He will face Perry’s Kyle Rowan in the final.

Meanwhile, 138-pounder Jordan Decatur was even more dominant on his way to his second state final. He scored an 18-2 technical fall over Van Wert’s Gabe Steyer in the quarterfinals and then beat Wauseon’s Hunter Yackee 12-2 in the semifinals.

Jordan Decatur will face Eaton’s Wade Monebrake in the state final.

CVCA had hoped that 120-pound Matt Cardello also could reach the final. Cardello opened with a 17-1 technical fall over Indian Valley’s Brady O’Connor, but in the semifinals, Cardello lost a 6-5 decision to St. Paris Graham’s Alec Martin.

CVCA also saw 220-pound Breslin Walker eliminated with a 2-1 loss to Wapakoneta’s Evan Kaeck. Royals 145-pounder Justin West was eliminated 4-2 by Thornville Sheridan’s Noah Barnett in the sudden victory period.

Meanwhile at the Division I level, Walsh Jesuit 170-pounder Dominic DiPietro earned his first All-Ohio place.

DiPietro lost his opening match Friday 5-4 to Cincinnati Winton Woods’ Cornell Beachem, but clinched his All-Ohio spot with a 5-1 win over Massillon Jackson’s Tyler Tolarchyk.

DiPietro then advanced to the consolation semifinals with 3-2 win over Fremont Ross’ Garrett Barth.

Walsh 152-pounder Will Schmidt also had chance to reach an All-Ohio spot, but lost 4-2 to Lima Senior’s Naeem Russell.
