The Chagrin Valley Little Theatre has announced its plans to host a star-studded benefit production of "Smokey Joe’s Café" April 21, featuring nine Broadway and television actors.
Proceeds will benefit CVLT, one of the oldest community theaters in Ohio, currently celebrating its 88th season.
"We are especially proud to announce our honorary chairs, Corey and Casey Cott, who plan to be with us for the Gala event," says Gary Gottfried, Gala chairperson. "These brothers raised in the Chagrin Valley are thrilled to be coming home to support CVLT."
Corey Cott has appeared on Broadway in Newsies and Gigi, and most recently in Bandstand, with additional TV credits to his resume. Casey currently co-stars in the very popular television series "Riverdale" on the CW Network.
Smokey Joe’s Café, an award winning "jukebox" musical, will be directed by Broadway veteran Robb Sapp, who also hails from the Chagrin Valley, along with Pat Keller Haynish, who has been instilling a love for music and theater in her students for more than 25 years. Sapp and the Cotts are just some of her former students.
Sapp has starred in several Broadway productions including Wicked and The Lion King. Sapp and Haynish will perform with the Broadway talent to celebrate the community aspect of theater that is the heart of CVLT.
The benefit will include a high-end reception at Township Hall, followed by a live auction with professional auctioneer and former local sportscaster, Mark Shroeder.
After the performance, the cast will join guests at an after party at Township Hall for a meet and greet.
Tickets are available, prices range from $125 to $175 with premium "On-Stage" seats available for $225. Visit chagrincomestobroadway.org or call 440-247-8955 for information.
