Phenomenal women from Northeast Ohio will gather to celebrate International Women’s Day March 4 from 12:30 to 4 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn of Cleveland/Twinsburg, on Wilcox Drive in Twinsburg. The luncheon and event titled, "Celebrating the Phenomenal Woman: Pressing for Progress," is organized by the Zonta Clubs of ?Ashtabula Area, Cleveland and Hudson.
Zonta is an international organization that works to empower women and girls through service and advocacy. Keynote speaker, Ambassador Heather Hodges, will speak about how her ?31 years in foreign service, including serving as United States ambassador to Moldova and Ecuador, has taught her the importance of pressing for progress to meet international challenges. Hodges currently serves as president and ambassador-in-residence of the ?Cleveland Council of World Affairs.
Also speaking is past Zonta international ?director and principal at the Douglass Leadership Group, Kathleen Douglass, from Toronto, Canada. Douglass will share the mission of Zonta and its impact for progress both locally and internationally. She will also speak about how effective leadership leads to progress in both personal and professional situations.
Zonta Club of Hudson President Anne Marie Smith says the purpose of this event is to empower and inspire women to make positive changes.
"When we become more effective and empowered leaders, we really can make a difference in our communities and the world," she said.
