A gentle bit of rainfall caught dozens of drivers by surprise throughout the area this morning, as low temperatures caused icy conditions on roads for about an hour.

Police reported few injuries, but dozens of accidents as road surfaces turned to ice from around 9:30 a.m. to a little after 10 a.m. — 18 in Cuyahoga Falls, 12 in Stow, 10 in Macedonia, and six in Tallmadge. Aurora reported five accidents, and one injured individual who was transported for treatment.

There were no accidents reported in Twinsburg, Munroe Falls or Hudson, but there were reports of pedestrians slipping on the ice.

Police said road conditions improved after temperatures increased 11 a.m.
