CUYAHOGA FALLS — The auction of Woodridge Intermediate School that had been set for Saturday, Jan. 13 has been cancelled due to the pending sale of the building to another school.
According to a media release sent Tuesday, the Woodridge Board of Education "is finalizing a direct sale of the property … to a local chartered non-public school and, as such, the auction is no longer required."
The school is at 1930 Bronson St. in Peninsula.
"The Intermediate School has served Woodridge well for many years," said Superintendent Walter Davis. "We are pleased to be finalizing the sale of the building and will provide additional details when the process is complete."
The Woodridge district will open a new elementary school building in the 2018-19 school year, which will combine the classes currently at the Woodridge Primary and Woodridge Intermediate schools. Summit Christian School, which teaches kindergarten through eighth grade, will move into the primary building in 2018.
The Board of Education is scheduled to meet today at 5 p.m. in the high school library for its annual organizational meeting. That meeting will be followed by a work session for levy planning.
