AURORA — A Cleveland man accused in the September strong-arm robbery of an Aurora clothing store has pleaded guilty to a felony robbery charge.

Keith A. Williams, 30, of East 73rd Street, pleaded guilty recently to attempted robbery, a fourth-degree felony, in Portage County Common Pleas Court in Ravenna. He faces a maximum of 18 months in prison at sentencing.

Judge Laurie Pittman ordered a pre-sentence investigation and released Williams on a personal recognizance bond with the condition he have no contact with the Polo Ralph Lauren store at Aurora Farms Premium Outlets.

Williams and Jerry J. Allen, also 30 and of East 66th Street in Cleveland, were arrested Sept. 2 and accused of stealing almost $4,800 in designer clothing from the store on South Chillicothe Road/Route 43.

They were confronted by a store employee, and allegedly shouldered their way past her and fled the store. Assaulting someone in the commission of a theft is robbery in the state of Ohio.

The men also allegedly possessed tools used to remove store security sensors when arrested, according to Aurora police.

Allen — who is charged with robbery, a second-degree felony, possession of criminal tools and receiving stolen property, both fifth-degree felonies — pleaded not guilty in September and is being held in the Portage County jail on $50,000 cash bond. His next scheduled court date on Dec. 14 in Pittman's courtroom.
