Hudson’s annual Home for the Holidays event Nov. 25. Join at The Learned Owl Book Shop, 204 N. Main Street, from 1 to 3 p.m. to meet Laura Freeman, Gatehouse Media and Hudson Hub-Times reporter and author.

Her latest historical romance is "Impending Love and Capture." She will be signing it and the earlier books in her series, including "Impending Love and War," "Impending Love and Death," and "Impending Love and Lies." All of the books take place during the Civil War.

"Impending Love and Capture" begins on the battlefield at Gettysburg, where Jessica Beecher is caring for the wounded at Culp’s Hill. She is captured by Confederate Maj. Morgan Mackinnon, who needs her wagon and nursing skills as the rebel wounded flee from the battlefield during the night. When she overhears Gen. Robert E. Lee’s plans, Mackinnon realizes he can’t let her leave.

Freeman graduated from Stow High School and Kent State University and now resides in Cuyahoga Falls. She has won the Press Club of Cleveland's Ohio Excellence in Journalism award twice and the Ohio Newspaper Assocation award several times. She is currently working on the final two books in the series, "Impending Love and Madness," which begins on the day of President Lincoln’s assassination, and "Impending Love and Promise," set in 1866. Each of her books can be read independently and has a slice of history forming the background for each romance.
